What’s New At Canal NY

What’s New at Canal NY

We may have been quiet, but not due to a lack of activity! Over the past year, Canal NY has been working hard on the development of the www.discovertheeriecanal.com web site. Built to be the “Tourism Site of The Erie Canal” The site will differ from any other online presence regarding the Erie Canal. This site is built upon the idea that what makes the Erie Canal so great are the more than 200 communities that make up the canal corridor. Each community will have the ability to promote itself within the umbrella of the overall site.

As a member of Canal NY, you’re entitled to a full featured listing for your organization. Contact us to get that accomplished on the site.

Planning is underway for Canal NY’s annual media luncheon. Held at Pier One in lower Manhattan, last Sept. more than 30 members of the media enjoyed a view of the Statue of Liberty while enjoying their meal and presentations from our member sponsors. We intend to make this year’s event even better as we work to improve our contacts in the media.

With a new trade show display, Canal NY once again participated in the NY times travel show. This show continues to be great opportunity for Canal NY to continue to fulfill its mission statement of being the one private sector organization dedicated to promoting the Erie Canal.

A presentation is being developed which will be presented to service organizations such as Rotary Clubs throughout the Canal Corridor. This will be designed to inform community leaders throughout the region about what Canal NY does throughout the year to promote the Canal and its membership
